QuestionAnswer
What are the three main types of blood cells? Erythrocytes (RBCs), Leukocytes (WBCs), and Thrombocytes (PLTs).
What is the function of erythrocytes? To transport oxygen and carbon dioxide through hemoglobin.
What is the role of hemoglobin in red blood cells? To bind and transport oxygen and carbon dioxide.
What is the function of leukocytes? To defend the body against infection and disease.
What are the major types of leukocytes? Neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils.
Which blood component is responsible for clotting? Platelets (thrombocytes).
What are the four chambers of the heart? Right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, left ventricle.
What is the correct pathway of blood flow through the heart? Right atrium → right ventricle → lungs → left atrium → left ventricle → body.
What separates the left and right sides of the heart? The septum.
Which heart valve is located between the left atrium and left ventricle? Mitral (bicuspid) valve.
What are the three layers of a blood vessel wall? Tunica intima, tunica media, and tunica externa.
What is the function of the pulmonary artery? To carry deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.
What is the function of the coronary arteries? To supply oxygenated blood to the heart muscle.
