What is the primary function of the digestive system? To break down food into smaller molecules and absorb nutrients.
Which organ is responsible for producing bile? Liver
What is the role of the small intestine in digestion? Absorb nutrients and break down proteins.
What is the role of saliva in digestion? Contains enzyme that helps the stomach to digest starches in food.
Where does most of the digestion and absorption occur? small intestine
How does food move through the digestive tract? peristalsis
What acid is produced by the stomach? hydrochloric acid
What is the function of the pancreas? produces enzymes that helps in digestion and regulates blood sugar levels
What enzymes produced by the pancreas? amylase, lipase and proteases
How does pancreas regulate blood sugar levels? Insulin is release when blood glucose rise, glucagon is release when blood glucose is low.
