| Anterior | Refers to the front or direction toward the front of the body. |
| Posterior | Refers to the back or direction toward the back of the body. |
| Heart | The organ that pumps blood throughout the body, supplying oxygen and nutrients while removing waste products |
| Lungs | The organs responsible for breathing and gas exchange, taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide |
| Bladder | The organ that stores urine before it is expelled from the body |
| Bones | Hard structures that form the skeleton, providing support, protection, and enabling movement |
| Homeostasis | Process by which the body maintains a stable internal environment,. |
| Synapse | The junction between two neurons where communication occurs via neurotransmitters. |
| Neuron | A nerve cell; the basic structural and functional unit of the nervous system. |
| Myelin sheath | The insulating covering around axons that increases the speed of nerve impulse conduction. |
