What are the three main layers of the skin? Epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis.
What type of tissue makes up the epidermis? Stratified squamous epithelium.
Which layer of skin contains blood vessels and nerve endings? Dermis.
What are the two main layers of the dermis? Papillary and reticular layers.
What is the fatty layer beneath the dermis called? Hypodermis (subcutaneous layer).
What are the appendages of the skin? Hair, nails, and glands.
Which type of sweat gland becomes active during puberty? Apocrine sweat glands.
What skin condition is caused by lack of melanin? Albinism.
What type of burn affects only the epidermis? First-degree burn.
How does the skin contribute to homeostasis of body temperature? Through sweating and blood vessel dilation/constriction.
