Body Planes

Chapter 2 Terms

TermDefinition
Proximal closer to the center (proximal and approximate means close)
Distal farther away from the center (distal and distance means far)
Lateral out to the side (quarterback lateraling the football)
Medial towards the middle (like the median of highway)
Anterior/ventral the front (ventral means stomach)
Posterior/dorsal the back (dorsal fin of back of shark)
Cranial towards the top (cranes reach to top of buildings)
Caudal towards the bottom
Superior above (your work superior is above you in the chain of command)
Inferior below
