What is Anatomy? is the study of body structure, whereas physiology deals with body function.

What is the difference between elements and compounds? Elements are substances made of only one type of atom, while compounds are formed when two or more different elements chemically combine
What is the equation for determining mass number? Mass number (p+ + n0)
Give an example of how cell structure relates to its function. Red blood cells have a biconcave shape, meaning they are thinner in the center than at the edges. This unique structure increases their surface area, allowing for more efficient oxygen exchange.
List the three main structural components of a typical cell. the cell membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus
What is a primary germ layer? is one of the three main layers of cells formed early in embryonic development. These layers give rise to all the tissues and organs in the body. The three primary germ layers are: Ectoderm, Mesoderm, Endoderm
Define mucus and describe its function in the body. Mucus is a thick, slippery fluid produced by mucous membranes and glands, especially in areas like the nose, throat, lungs, and digestive tract. 1. Protection 2. Lubrication 3. Immune defense
Name the two different types of bone tissue. 1. Compact bone – dense and strong; forms the outer layer of bones 2. Spongy bone (also called cancellous bone) – lighter and porous; found inside bones, especially at the ends, and helps absorb shock and produce blood cells.
Which bone is the only bone that normally does not form a joint with any other bone of the skeleton? The hyoid bone is the only bone in the body that normally does not form a joint with any other bone. It is located in the neck and is anchored by muscles and ligaments. The hyoid supports the tongue and plays a role in swallowing and speech.
