What is the Endomysium? Th,CT SORROUNDING MF Thin connective tissue surrounding each muscle fiber.
What is the perimysium? CONNECTIVE TISS THAT SOURROUNDS FASC (BUNDLES OF FI)'S Connective tissue that surrounds fascicles (bundles of fibers).
What is the epimysium? OUTER C/T COVERING THE WHOLE MU Outer connective tissue covering the whole muscle.
What do the endomysium, perimysium, and epimysium form together? T----NS Tendons or aponeuroses.
Define muscle origin. NON MO POINT OF ATT The fixed, non-moving point of attachment.
Define muscle insertion. MOVABLE POA The movable point of attachment.
What is a prime mover (agonist)? MAIN CHARACTER (M) RESPONSIBLE FOR MO Main muscle responsible for movement.
What is an antagonist muscle? MUSCLE THAT OPP THE PRIME/MOV Muscle that opposes the prime mover.
What is a synergist muscle? ASSISTS THE PRIME MOVER FOR MORE EF/MO Assists the prime mover for more efficient movement.
What are fixator muscles? STAB JOI DUR MOVEM Stabilize joints during movement.
What are the 4 components of a lever system? B,J,WE,MUSCLE FO Rigid bar (bone), fulcrum (joint), load (weight), and pull (muscle force).
What is a first-class lever? FU/ L/ E Fulcrum is between the pull and load (like a seesaw).
What is a second-class lever? FLE First-class: Fulcrum in the middle Lecond-class: Load in the middle Ethird-class: Effort in the middle
What is a third-class lever? EFFORT IN THE M F L E Pull is between the fulcrum and the load (like tweezers); most common in body.
How are muscles named? LO,FU,SH,FI,DIR,# DIV, AP,S By location, function, shape, fiber direction, number of divisions, attachment points, or size.
What makes facial muscles unique? Attach to skin instead of bone.
What do muscles of mastication do? Perform chewing.
What do head and neck muscles do? Move the head and support posture.
What do thoracic muscles help with? RESP Breathing (respiration).
What is special about abdominal wall muscles? LA WITH FIB IN DIFF DIR FOR STR Arranged in layers with fibers in different directions for strength.
What do back muscles do? B,STAB,EXTEND THE S Bend, stabilize, and extend the spine.
What is the role of pelvic floor muscles? Support organs in the pelvic cavity.
