Organization of the Body

TermDefinition
Transverse Plane The plane that divided the boy to upper and lower parts.
Coronal Plane The plane that divides the Body as front and back.
Sagittal Plane The plane that divides the body into left and right.
Anatomy The study of the structure of a living organism.
Physiology The study of the function of a living organism.
Cells The smallest unit that possesses and exhibits characteristics of life
Smallest to largest structural organization of the human body Molecules-Cells-Tissue-Organ-Organ System-Organism
What are the characteristics of life? Growth, conductivity, responsiveness, respiration, digestion, absorption,excretion, secretion, circulation, reproduction
What are the characteristics of anatomical positioning? Body standing/erect, arms to the side with palms facing forward, head and feet facing forward
What are the two largest body cavities? Dorsal cavity and Ventral cavity.
