| grotesque | comically or repulsively ugly or distorted. |
| vitality | the state of being strong and active; energy. |
| cosmopolite | a sophisticated and well-traveled person |
| debacle | a sudden and disastrous failure; a fiasco! |
| zealous | showing great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or objective. |
| affable | friendly, good-natured, or easy to talk to. |
| cunning | having or showing skill in achieving one's ends but in a sneaky, way. Typically has negative connotation. |
| precariously | not securely held or in position; dangerously likely to fall or collapse. |
| repast | an old-fashioned word for "meal" |
| lacerated | torn or deeply cut flesh |
