SAT-Unit 2-Cask of Amontillado

Amontillado A dry, sherry wine
Cask A small, wooden barrel used for holding alcoholic beverages, typically
Vintage The year or place a wine was made
Connoisseurship Having an extreme amount of knowledge and appreciation for something. In the context of our story...wine.
Motley A multicolored costume used for a jester
Jester A joker or fool typically for a king, etc. Basically, the medieval equivalent of a comedian.
Roquelaire A knee-length cloak for men.
Fettered It means that you are chained either literally or figuratively
Mason (profession) Someone who builds or works with stone
Mason (group) Freemasons are known for being secretive, but they also do a lot of charitable things in their communities.
Repose Putting your body into a position that is restful for sleep or relaxing
Impunity Getting away with something. For example, getting away with a crime.
Preclude To prevent something from happening
Redress To try to fix a bad situation with someone
Nitre A soft, white mineral found in caves
Retribution To punish someone who hurt you. Revenge.
Catacombs An underground cemetery under a city.
