Amendments

Amendment one This admendment protects the civil liberties of the people in the United states (freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and the right to assemble.)
Amendment two The right to bear arms (have guns).
Amendment three Soldiers can not invade homes to use as quarters during peace time.
Amendment four No unreasonable searches or seizures.
Amendment five People cannot be convicted without evidence, they have the right to remain silent, they have a right to a fair trial with no double jeprody, and no private property can be taken without compensation.
Amendment six Right to a speedy and public trial. Their trial should be fair with a jury that listens to both sides before deciding a verdict and the trial should be public.
Amendment seven In a lawsuit for more than twenty dollars, the trial should be with a jury.
Admendment eight No cruel and unusual punishment or bail (the money paid to get out of jail)
Amendment nine The people's rights are not limited to those mentioned in the constitution.
Amendment ten This amendment protects the state and people from an all powerful federal government. The states can make their own laws unless it goes against something specifically prohibited or granted in the constitution.
Amendment eleven if someone is suing the states It must be done in a state court before a federal one.
Amendment twelve Changes the process for electing Presidents and Vice Presidents.
Amendment thirteen This amendment ended slavery in the United States.
Amendment fourteen This amendment penalized the southern states for refusing to let African Americans vote, to keep confederate leaders from getting into the government, and ensuring that war debts would be paid off.
Amendment fifteen This amendment gave African Americans the right to vote, and gave authorities the right to enforce it and help end racial discrimination.
Amendment sixteen This amendment re-authorize income tax.
Amendment seventeen This amendment gave the people of each state power to elect their own senators and made it so if there are was an empty senator position there must be an election to fill it.
Amendment eighteen This amendment prohibited the production, sale, or transportation of alcoholic beverages.
Amendment nineteen This amendment allowed women rights to vote in state and federal elections.
Amendment twenty This amendment was made to shorten the time between the president's and the Vice President's inauguration, and to end the lame duck sessions of congress. This also says that if the president dies during a term the Vice President will be sworn in.
Amendment twenty-one This amendment repealed the eighteenth amendment and legalized alcohol again.
Amendment twenty-two This amendment put a limit on presidential terms.
Amendment twenty-three This amendment granted people in the district of Colombia the right to vote in presidential election.
Amendment twenty-four This amendment enables the Vice President to replace the president if he dies, resigns, or is removed from office.
Amendment twenty-five If the president dies, resigns, or is removed from office, the Vice President will be sworn in as president.
Amendment twenty-six When you turn eighteen you have the right to vote in fedral, state, and local elections.
Amendment twenty-seven If salaries change for members of congress, they can not Be put into effect until the next terms.
