| 1st Amendment | Freedom of Religion, speech press, assembly. Gives the right to petition the government. |
| 2nd Amendment | The right to keep and bear arms in order to maintain a well-regulated militia. |
| 3rd Amendment | Prohibits the forced quartering on soldiers in private homes without the owner's consent during peacetime. |
| 4th Amandment | Protects against unreasonable searches and seizures; requires a warrant based on probable cause. |
| 5th Amendment | Guarantees the right to a grand jury indictment for serious crimes, protection double jeopardy and self-incrimination, and due process. |
| 6th Amendment | The right to a speedy, and public trial, and impartial jury. The right to be informed of the charges, to confront witnesses, compel favorable witnesses to appear, and to have legal counsel. |
| 7th Amendment | Guarantees the right to a jury in civil cases more than a certain monetary value. |
| 8th Amendment | Prohibits excessive bail and fines, as well as cruel and unusual punishment. |
| 9th Amendment | States that the enumeration of specific rights in the does not mean that other rights that are not specifically listed are not also protected. |
| 10th Amendment | Reinforces the principle of federalism, stating that any powers that are not specifically given to the federal government, nor withheld from the states, are reserved to those respective states, or the people at large. |
| 12th Amendment | Revises the presidential election process. |
| 13 Amendment | Abolishes Slavery and involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime. |
| 11 Amendment | Limits the ability of individual to sure states in federal court. |
| 14th Amendment | Grants citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the U.S., guarantees all citizens "equal protection of the laws," and prohibits states from depriving any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. |
| 15th Amendment | Prohibits denying a citizen the right to vote based on race, color, or previous condition of servitude. |
| 16th Amendment | Authorizes Congress to levy an income tax without regard to apportionment among the states or any census |
| 17th Amendment | Establishes the direct election of U.S. Senators by the people of the states. |
| 18th Amendment | Prohibited the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcoholic beverages. |
| 19th Amendment | Grants women the right to vote. |
| 20th Amendment | "Lame Duck." Changes the dates for the start of presidential and congressional terms. |
| 21st Amendment | Repeals Prohibition ending the nationwide ban on alcohol. |
| 22nd Amendment | Limits the president to two terms in office, or a maximum of ten years. |
| 23rd Amendment | Grants the District of Columbia (Washington D.C) electors i the Electoral College, as if it were a state. |
| 24th Amendment | Prohibits the use of poll taxes or any other tax as a condition of voting in federal elections. |
| 25th Amendment | Establishes the procedures for residential disability and the filling of vacancies in the offices of President and Vice President. |
| 26 Amendment | Lowers the voting age to 18 |
| 27th Amendment | Prevents any law that increases or decreases the salary of members of congress from taking effect until the start of the next set of terms of office for Representatives. |
