What are the organs that comprise the urinary system?. Kidneys , ureters, bladder and urethra.
Which organ crosses the pelvic inlet and enters the pelvic cavity in the area anterior to the bifurcation of the common iliac artery and it continue along the pelvic wall and floor to join the base of the bladder. The ureter.
Ureter function. Transport the urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
Which organ expands superiorly into the abdominal cavity. Bladder.
Which are the main parts of the bladder. Apex, base, superior surface and inferolateral surfaces.
In women which ligaments help to support the bladder. Pubovesical ligaments.
In men which ligaments help to support the bladder. Puboprostatic ligaments.
Which organ begins at the base of the bladder and ends with an external opening in the perineum. Urethra.
How long is the women urethra. 4cm.
How long is the men urethra. 20cm.
In women the ureter is crossed by. Uterine artery.
In men the ureter is crossed by. Ductus deferens.
When the bladder is empty which shaped like. Three - sided pyramid.
Name of the smooth triangular area between the openings of the ureters and urethra on the inside of the bladder. Trigone.
Describe the path that the urethra follows in women. It travels a slightly curved course as it passes inferiorly through the pelvic floor into the perineum, where it passes through the deep perineal pouch and perineal membrane before opening in the vestibule that lies between the labia minora.
Which glands are associated with the lower end of the urethra in women. Skene's glands (mucous glands).
Describe the path that the urethra follows in men. Beginning at the base of the bladder and passing inferiorly through the prostate, it passes through the deep perineal pouch and perineal membrane and immediately enters the root of the penis.
How the urethra is divided in men. Preprostatic, prostatic, membranous and spongy parts.
Which organ is enclosed the anterior and posterior layers of the renal fascia. Ureters.
What is the function of the urinary system. Filters the blood , remove waste and excess water.
