| Term | Definition |

| Fascia | Fibrous connective tissue found under the skin and surrounding many different organs. For example, skeletal muscles and bones. |
| Perineum | Muscular pelvic floor filling the diamond-shaped outlet. |
| Sarcomere | Basic contractile unit of the muscle cells. |
| Central Nervous System (CNS) | Structural and functional center of the entire nervous system. |
| Schwann Cells | The functional equivalent of the oligodendrocytes, supporting nerve fibers and sometimes forming a myelin sheath. |
| Epidural Space | Space immediately outside the dura mater but inside the bony coverings of the spinal cord. |
| Epicardium | Outer layer of the heart wall. |
| Endocardium | Lining of the interior of the myocardial wall. |
| Epiglottis | Small leaf-shaped cartilage that projects upward behind the tongue and hyoid bone. |
| Acute Bronchitis | Acute inflammation of the tracheobronchial tree. |
| Heparin | A natural constituent of blood, acts as an antithrombin. |
