CNS vs PNS CNS: structural and functional center of the nervous system containing the brain and spinal cord, interpreting sensory information, and initiates outgoing response. PNS: contains nerve tissues that are in "peripheral" outer regions.

Starling's law of the heart -The longer and more stretched the heart fibers in the beginning of contraction, the stronger the general contraction. -The amount of blood in the heart at the end of diastole determines amount of stretch/ preload placed on heart fibers.
Ejection fraction Ratio of stroke volume to end-diastolic volume
Afterload The pumping work that the heart must do to push blood into the arteries. The harder the push, the lower the stroke volume.
