| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Skeletal Muscle | Muscle Tissues that assist in movement of the body. Composed of multinucleated, striated muscle fibers. |
| Smooth Muscle | Muscle Tissues that move objects through organs. Composed of non-striated muscle fibers that have centrally located nuclei. |
| Cardiac Muscle | Muscle Tissues that pump blood throughout the body. Composed of branching muscle fibers that have centrally located nuclei |
| Peristalsis | Slow contractions |
| Neurons | Sends impulses from one body parts to another |
| Neuroglial Cells | Nervous cells that fill spaces between neurons and support them |
| Axon | Part of the neuron that carries impulses from the soma to the axon Terminals. |
| Axon Terminals | Part of neuron that passes impulses from one neuron to the dendrites of another |
| Soma | Part of the neuron that holds the organelles needed to maintain the neuron |
| Dendrites | Part of neuron that receives incoming impulses |
| Myelin Sheath | Part of the neuron that speeds up the conduction of impulses over longer neurons. |
