What are the three types of cartilage found in the skeletal system? Hyaline cartilage, elastic cartilage, and fibrocartilage.
What are the two main divisions of the human skeleton? The axial skeleton (skull, vertebral column, and rib cage) and the appendicular skeleton (limbs and girdles).
What are osteocytes, and what is their function? Osteocytes are mature bone cells that maintain the mineral content of bone tissue
What is the function of red and yellow bone marrow? Red bone marrow produces blood cells, while yellow bone marrow stores fat.
What are the four primary tissue types in the human body Epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue.
What are the main functions of epithelial tissue? Protection, absorption, secretion, and sensation.
What are the three main types of muscle tissue? Skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, and smooth muscle.
What is the function of nervous tissue? To transmit electrical impulses for communication between different body parts.
What are the three layers of the skin? Epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis (subcutaneous layer).
