Criminal Suit Seeks to punish one for breaking the law.
Judicial Restraint Courts right to hear controversial cases
Sovereign Immunity government is protected from lawsuits
Jurisdiction Authority of a court to hear a case
Affirmative Action A policy requiring most employers to take positive steps to remedy the past effects of discrimination.
Due Process Clause No state shall deprive any person of life, liberty or property without Due Process of law.
Established Clause Prohibits the establishment of a religion or the sanctioning of an existing religion by the government
free Exercise Clause Guarantees to each person the right to believe whatever that person chooses to believe in matters of religion
Police Power The power of each state to protect and promote health, safety, morals and welfare.
