TermDefinition
Directional Term Terms used in healthcare to communicate positions or locations of body parts or structures compared to other structures.
Anatomical Position The position of the body when it is standing upright and facing forward with arms at the side of the body and palms facing forward.
pH Stands for potential (or power) of hydrogen and is the measurement of how acidic or basic a solution is.
Peroxin A type of protein that helps with biogenesis and maintenance of peroxisomes , ensuring peroxisomes have what they need to function effectively in the cell.
Langerhans Cells Are immune cells present in the epidermis that are primarily responsible for recognizing and presenting allergens to the immune system.
Epidermis The outermost layer of the skin and acts as a barrier between the internal and external environments.
Which structure is located entirely within the right upper quadrant? The gallbladder.
The reaction between hydrogen and oxygen needed to form water is an example of what? A synthesis reaction.
The most abundant element essential to life is what? Carbon.
Anatomically speaking, which bones compose the wrist? Carpals.
