TermDefinition
Anatomy Study of the structure of an organism and the relationships of its parts.
Organelles structure made of organized molecules that can perform specific function.
Anatomical position a special reference used in anatomy to describe the location and orientation of a body structure.
cells smallest organizational unit of living matter.
tissue is a group of cells that have the same composition and has the same function.
metabolism is a chain reaction in the body's cells that change food into energy.
Epithelial tissue is a type of body tissue that has the covering of all the internal and external surface of the body.
Skin (cutaneous membrane) sheet-like organ that covers the whole body and act as a fence between the internal and external environment.
Epidermis The thinner (superficial) layer of the skin.
Dermis The thicker (deeper) layer of the skin.
Skeletal tissue connective tissue that supports and protects the body.
Diaphysis Main shaft in the long bone.
Epiphysis Enlarge wide end of a long bone .
Axial Skeleton the center of bone in the body, that is made up of the skull, (vertebral column) spine, and ribcage.
Appendicular skeleton part of the human skeleton that is made up of the limbs, shoulder, pelvic girdle.
Axial muscles muscle in the axis that covers the head, neck and back.
Appendicular muscles muscles that are in charge and support the movements of the limbs (arms and legs).
