Medial and Lateral Toward midline / Away from midline
Atrophy A decrease in size, organ or tissue; wasting
Golgi apparatus Organelle in cells, processes and packages protein and lipids
Endoplasmic reticulum Network of membranous tubules, involved in protein and lipid synthesis
Homeostasis State of balance among all bodily systems
Prion Infectious protein, causes other proteins to fold abnormally, can lead to brain damage
Trabecular bone "Cancellous", porous bone found in ends of long bones, middle of short bones, vertebrae
Sesamoid bone Independent bone or bony nodule, (ex: kneecap)
Primary ossification center The first place were bone begins to form
Red bone marrow Spongy tissue inside bones, produces red and white blood cells, and platelets
