| Oculomotor Nerve (III) | Eye movement, pupil constriction, and eyelid elevation (motor) |
| Trochlear Nerve (IV) | Eye movement (specifically, moving the eye downward and inward) (motor) |
| Trigeminal Nerve (V) | Sensation from the face (touch, pain, temperature) and motor control for chewing (both sensory and motor) |
| Abducens Nerve (VI) | Eye movement (specifically, lateral movement of the eye) (motor) |
| Facial Nerve (VII) | Facial expression, taste from the anterior 2/3 of the tongue, secretion of saliva and tears (both sensory and motor) |
| Vestibulocochlear Nerve (VIII) | Hearing and balance (sensory) |
| Glossopharyngeal Nerve (IX) | Taste from the posterior 1/3 of the tongue, sensation from the pharynx, and contributes to swallowing and saliva production (both sensory and motor) |
| Vagus Nerve (X) | Sensation and motor control in the throat and voice box, parasympathetic regulation of heart rate and digestion (both sensory and motor) |
| Accessory Nerve (XI) | Controls muscles involved in head movement and shoulder elevation (motor) |
| Hypoglossal Nerve (XII) | Controls tongue movements (motor) |
