51. What is the title of the leader of the House of Representatives? 51. Speaker of the House (the most senior member of the majority party)
52. What is the title of the leader of the Senate? 52. The President Pro Tempore (the most senior member of the majority party)
53. How many members are in the House of Representatives? 53. 435, based on the state's population. Larger populated states have more representatives. Florida has 27.
54. How many members are in the Senate? 54. 100, (2 per state). This gives equality among states.
55. What are the powers of Congress? 55. They create laws.
56. After a bill (proposal for a new law) is passed in the House of Representatives, where does it have to go next? 56. It goes to the Senate.
57. What are lobbyists? 57. People who represent interest groups
58. What are enumerated powers? 58. Powers specifically written in the US Constitution
59. What checks do the legislative branch have on the executive branch? 59. Legislative branch ratifies (approves) all treaties and only Congress can declare war.
60. What checks do the legislative branch have on the judicial branch? 60. Legislative branch has to approve all Supreme Court nominees and they write all laws.
