The Middle Ages - Charlemagne Unites Germanic Kingdoms

QuestionAnswer
1. Who was Charlemagne? Charlemagne was the king of the Franks from 768 to 814 AD, he was crowned emperor of the Holy Roman Empire by the Pope in 800 AD.
2. What caused the decline of learning? (Give one reason) The decline of learning happened due to the Germanic tribes attacking Rome, not being able to read or write Greek/Latin and didn't have any use of Greek or Roman Culture.
3. What did Clovis do? Clovis had united the Franks into one kingdom and brought Christianity to the region.
4. What happened after Charlemagne's death? After Charlemagne's death, his sons fought for land which later divided the empire into three kingdoms.
5. What did Charlemagne do? The reason why he is so known is because he was able to unite most of early France, Germany, and northern Italy in one Frankish Empire.
