Types of tissues Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, & Nervous
Skin Type of Epithelial Tissue; Covers outside of body, lines the inside of the body
Membrane Type of Epithelial Tissue; Two thin layers of tissue formed together; Cells may secrete a fluid
Adipose Tissue Type of Connective Tissue; Stores fat cells
Cartilage Type of Connective Tissue; Firm, flexible support for baby skeleton, covers the ends of long bones in adults
Tendons Type of connective tissue; connect muscle to bone
Ligaments Type of Connective Tissue; connects bone to bone
Cardiac Type of muscle; involuntary; located in the heart
Skeletal Type of muscle; voluntary; attached to skeleton
Smooth Type of muscle; involuntary; provides movement in various body systems
Nervous Tissue Reacts to stimulation and conducts an impulse
Skeletal System Provides support, protection & movement; Skull, Ribs, Pelvis, Humerus, Femur
Muscular System Provides support, movement, & heat; Diaphragm, Pectoralis Major, Gluteus Maximus
Circulatory System Pumps blood and transports oxygen; Blood, Arteries, Vein, Heart
Lymphatic System Stimulates immune response and produces lymphocytes; Spleen, Tonsils, Thymus Gland
Respiratory System Allows for exchange of oxygen & carbon dioxide; Lungs, Diaphragm, Alveoli, Larynx, Pharynx
Digestive System Digests food & absorbs nutrients; Esophagus, Stomach, Liver, Large Intestines, Small Intestines
Integumentary System Protects, regulates body temp. & provides sensation; Skin, Hair, Sweat Glands
Nervous System Processes information; Brain & spinal Cord
Sensory System Provides sensation; Eyes, ears, nose, mouth & skin
