Gastronomy The art, science, or activity of exploring how to prepare and eat good food.
Bistro A small restaurant that is not expensive.
Confectionery A store where chocolate, sweets, etc., are sold.
Diner A small restaurant.
Drive-through A service where one can shop or do business without leaving one's vehicle, such as at fast-food restaurants.
Food court An area in a public place such as a shopping mall where multiple small restaurants are located.
Cholesterol A substance high in fat and found in blood and most body tissues, linked to an increased risk of heart disease.
Greasy (Of food) containing or cooked in a lot of oil.
Oily (Of food) containing a lot of oil.
Savory Pleasing or agreeable to the sense of taste.
Stale (Of food, particularly bread and cake) not fresh anymore, due to exposure to air or prolonged storage.
Tasteless Lacking flavor or an interesting taste.
Tender (Of food) easy to chew or cut.
Yummy Tasting very good.
Self-service (Of a restaurant, store, etc.) providing customers with the chance to serve themselves and then pay for it.
Appetizer A small dish that is eaten before the main part of a meal.
Entree The main segment of a meal.
Specialty A type of food or drink that a place is known for, delivered in high quality.
A la carte A menu in which each dish has a separate price.
Gourmet Someone who enjoys and knows a lot about food and wine.
Regular A person who buys something from a place or visits it very often.
Burrito A dish of a tortilla wrapped around a mixture of ground meat or beans, originating in Mexico.
Caviar The preserved eggs of some fish, especially sturgeon, considered a very expensive dish.
Schnitzel A thin slice of meat that is coated with breadcrumbs and then fried.
Spring roll A dish of a pancake filled with vegetables and sometimes meat, then fried until crispy, originating in China.
Sushi A dish of small rolls or balls of cold cooked rice flavored with vinegar and garnished with raw fish or vegetables.
Taco A dish consisting of a folded tortilla filled with ground meat, beans, etc., originating in Mexico.
Port A type of dark-red wine with a sweet taste, originating in Portugal.
To wine and dine To treat someone to meals and drinks, typically in a luxurious or extravagant manner.
Ale A type of beer that is dark in color and does not contain bubbles.
Pina colada A drink made with pineapple, coconut, and rum.
Frappe A drink served with a lot of small pieces of ice.
Pilsner A type of light beer flavored with hops.
