Muscular System

What fascicles are short compared to muscle? Pennate.
What do circular fascicles do when contracting? Decrease diameter, guard entrances and exits of passage ways.
What fascicle forms sphincter muscles that enclose openings? Circular. Ex: Orbicularis.
What do triangular / convergent fascicles do when contracting? Pull softly in different directions.
What do parallel fascicles do when contracting? Get shorter and longer in diameter.
What fascicle comes together at common attachment sites? Triangular / convergent. Ex: Pectoral.
What fascicle is spindle shaped with a central body? Parallel. Ex: Bicep.
What is the attachment to a moveable bone called> Insertion.
What is the attachment to a stationary bone called? Origin.
How many skeletal muscles within the muscular system? 700.
