What is the hollow space in diaphysis? Medullary cavity.
What is the bone building cell that secretes matrix? Osteoblasts.
What lines the medullary cavity? Edosteum.
What covers the diaphysis? Periosteum.
What bone stem cells differentiate into other cells? Osteoprogenitor cells.
What ossification occurs when cartilage is replaced by bone? Endochondral.
Compact bone has what 7 structures? Lamellae, central canal, perforating canal, lacunae, canaliculi, centric rings, interstitial lamellae.
Spongy bone has what 2 things? and is found in... Trabeculae, red bone marrow, found in epiohysis.
What cell is a mature bone? Osteocytes.
5 bone types Short, flat, long, sesamoid, irregular.
Abundant extra cellular matric is __% water, __% collagen, and __% mineral salts. 15%, 30%, 55%.
What is ossification and what age does the process complete? Bone formation, age 25.
What grows bone and what eats bone? Osteoblasts grow, Osteoclasts eat.
What cell remodels bones and releases calcium? Osteoclasts.
Bone is made up of 5 things... Bone tissue, cartilage, dense connective tissue, adipose tissue, and nervous tissue.
When periosteum osteoblasts add new bone tissue in diameter this is called? Appositional growth.
What ossification occurs when a connective tissue membrane is replaced by bone? Intramembranous.
