| Life science | Life science is the study of living things is life science or biology. |
| Physical science | Physical science is the study of energy and matter, it includes both physics and chemistry. |
| Inference | An inference is a logical explanation of an observation that is drawn from prior knowledge or experience. |
| Observation | Observation is the act of using one or more of your senses to gather information. |
| Prediction | A prediction is a statement of what will happen next in a sequence of events. |
| Hypothesis | A hypothesis is a possible explanation for an observation that can be tested by scientific investigations. |
| Scientific law | A scientific law is different from a social law, which is an agreement among people concerning a behavior. |
| Scientific theory | Often the word theory is used in casual conversations to mean an untested idea or opinion. |
| Critical thinking | Critical thinking is comparing what you already know with the information you are given in order to decide whether you agree with it. |
