How Organisms Pass Genetic Information to Offspring

Asexual Reproduction Asexual Reproduction is when an organism reproduces and creates an exact copy of itself.​
Sexual Reproduction Process by which an organism reproduces providing a new cell ½ of the original cell's DNA.
Mitosis Mitosis is when an organism reproduces and creates an exact copy of itself.​
Meiosis Meiosis is when an organism reproduces providing a new cell ½ of the original cell's DNA.
Offspring the young creation of living organisms, produced either by a single organism or, in the case of sexual reproduction, two organisms.
Trait A specific characteristic of an individual​
Alleles One of two or more versions of DNA sequence that specifies for traits
Variation Any difference between the individuals in a species or groups of organisms of any species.​
Dominant Traits A trait that appears more frequently than another trait, as a result of interactions between gene alleles.​
Recessive Traits A trait that appears less frequently than another trait, that results from interactions between gene alleles.​
Bacteria Microscopic organisms that contain their own genetic material that reproduce asexually, and which scientists examine to learn more about how genes work and how traits are spread from generation to generation.​
