Urinary System

QuestionAnswer
Urine The liquid waste product produced by the urinary system. It is approximately ninety-five percent water
Urinary System Responsible for removing certain wastes and excess water from the body and for maintaining the body's acid-base balance
Urethra The external opening that carries the urine out of the body
Ureters Two muscular tubes approximately ten to twelve inches in length (Connects the kidneys to the bladder)
Nephrons Microscopic filetring units located in the kidney
Medulla Inner section of the kidney
Kidneys Two bean shaped organs lacated on either side of the vertebral column behind the upper part of the abdominal cavity and separated from this cavity by the peritoneum
Glomerulus A cluster of Capillaries
Cortex Outter section of the kidney
Bladder A hollow, muscular sac that lies behind the spymphysis pubis and at the midline of the pelvic cavity
