Blood vessels

TermDefinition
Umbilical Arteries Carries deoxygenated blood away from the fetus's heart to the placenta
Umbilical veins Carries oxygenated blood from the placenta to the fetus's heart
Left Atrium Receives oxygenated blood from the pulmonary veins and passes blood to the left ventricle
Left ventricle Receives deoxygenated blood from the left atrium and pumps it into the aorta.
Right atrium Receives deoxygenated blood from the superior and inferior vena cava and passes blood to the right ventricle.
Right Ventricle Receives deoxygenated blood from the right atrium and pumps it into the pulmonary trunk.
External jugular Vein Drains blood from the neck, face, and scalp.
Right subclavian Veins Drains blood from the right arm
Internal jugular veins Drains blood from the brain
Superior Vena Cava Drains blood from the upper systemic circuit.
Aorta Supplies blood to the entire body
Brachiocephalic trunk Supplies blood to the right side of the head and the right arm (in human)
Common carotid Arteries Supplies blood to the right side of the head
Pulmonary trunk Carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs.
Inferior vena cava Drains blood from the lower systemic circuit.
