Cecum 1st part; connects SI to Colon
Appendix Small projection connected to cecum; you can live without it; stores healthy bacteria
Ascending colon Part of the LI that is going up
Trnsverse colon Part of the Li going across the body, parallel to the ground; most mobile part of the LI
Descending colon Part of the LI that is going down
Sigmoid colon S shape; section that takes waste to the rectum
Rectum Storage for indigestable material
Anal Canal Feces go through this to the anus
Anus A hole in which fecal material/waste can exit the body

Tongue Muscle; sensory receptors; mixes with salivary juices; becomes bolus

Liver Upper Right Quadrant; largest gland in your body; secrets bile; stores sugar in the form of glucose; you can live without it
Sublingual gland Creates saliva
Parotid gland Creates saliva; reacts to stimulation
Gall Bladder Attached to the underside of the liver; waters down bile; sends bile to duodenum
Pancreas Sits behind the stomach; ULQ; provides insulin; irregulates metabolism; burns carbs into glucose
Alimentary Canal Long muscular tube; begins at the mouth and ends at the anus

Appendicitis Inflammation of the ppendix; can burst; may require appendectomy
Cholecytitis Inflammation of the Gall Bladder
Cirrhosis Chronic diease of the lives associated with failure of the liver to function properly
Constipation Experiencing difficulty in defecation
Diarrhea Passing of frequent, watery, or bloody bowel movements; usually accompanies GI disorders
Diverticulus Inflammation of a diverticulum(out-pounching off the gut) epecially in the colon; often results when food becomes within the pounch
Gastroenteritis Inflammation of the stomach and the small intestine
Hemmorhoids Verricose Veins in the rectum and anus
Hepatitis Inflammation of the liver; usually due to a viral infection
Hernia Bulging of an organ/tissue though an abnormal opening
Pancreatitis Inflammation of the pancreas
Peritonitis Inflammation of the membrane lining and the abdominal wall
Ulcer A sore that develops on the lining of organs; caued by stomach acid
Ulcerative Colitis Chromic inflmmatory condition resulting in numeous ulcers; Inflammated Bowel Disease
Cholelithiasis 2 or more gall stones in the bladder
Anorexia Eating disorder causing people to obesses over their weight
Cleft Lip Openings/splits in the roof of the mouth/lip
Emesis Vomiting
Hematamisis Vomiting Blood
Jaundice Yellow discoloration of the skin because of a liver disorder
Melena Dark sticky poop
Meconium New born babyƛ first poop
Nausea Uneasyness of the stomach that often occumpanies the urge to vomit; does't always lead to vomiting
Pyrosis(heart burn) Burning Chest pain due to regurhitation of stomach acid
Inguinal Hernia Occurs when a tissue goes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles
Hiatal Hernia Occurs when part of the stomach protrudes up into the chest through the diaphragm
