3 heat transfers

what is the transfer of heat by the flow? convection.
what is the direct transfer of energy when molecules bump into each other? conduction
direct contact between two objects like warm land or water directly heating the air mass above it conduction
what is an example of conduction? walking barefoot on hot pavement.
what is the transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves? radiation
how does energy from the sun reach earths surface? radiation
what is an example of radiation? feeling heat from a fire place.
are radiation and heat two different things? yes because heat is a transfer from objects with high temps to objects with lower temps
what is absorbed that heats up our atmosphere? radiation
what occurs in liquids and gases? convection
what places a role in heating the atmosphere after radiation and conduction? convection
what is a convection current? a convection current is when cold air becomes more dense, it pushes up warmer air creating a convection current.
what drives weather patterns? the cycling of warm and cold currents.
a medal spoon gets hot in a pot of boiling water is an example of .......? conduction
an ice cube melts when held an a hand conduction
water in a heated pot begins to boil convection
cool air sinks to the ground on a warm night convection
air is warmer near the ceiling than the floor convection
transfer of heat by electromagnetic waves radiation
cold hands are warmed by a space heater radiation
bread turns brown in a toaster radiation
marshmallows turn brown when held over hot coals radiation
the sun melts the ice on a lawn radiation
