Chapter Twenty-Seven notes on Respiratory

Cystic Fibrosis chronic & progressive disease usually dx in childhood that causes mucus to become thick dry and sticky
Hay fever AKA seasonal allergic rhinitis, or pollinosis.
Influenza aka flu, illness caused by viruses that infect the respiratory tract
Legionnaire's disease pneumonia or lung infection
lung cancer leading cause of cancer in both men & women
pleurisy inflammation of membrane that surrounds & protects lungs
Pneumonia inflammation of lung orlungs caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or chemical irritants
Pulmonary edema fluid accumulates in lungs, because the hearts left ventricl doesnt pump adequately(usual reason)
pulmonary embolism (PE) blood clot in the lung
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) newly Id respiratory illness that first infect people in Asia, N. America,& Europe
Sinusitis infection or inflammation of mucous membranes that line the inside of nose and sinuses
tuberculosis (TB) contagious disease caused by bacillus mycobacterium tuberculosis
hemoptysis coughing up blood
cyanosis blue-coloured complexion
