Hematemesis Vomiting blood
Hepatomegaly Enlarged Liver
Peristalsis Rhythmic contractions that move food and waste throughout the gastrointestinal system
Mastication Chewing
Dysphagia Difficulty swallowing
Auscultation Using a stethoscope to listen to breath sounds, heart sounds and bowel sounds
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome The sudden unexplained death of a baby younger than 1 year of age that doesn’t have a known cause
Pulmonary Embolism A blood clot that breaks loose and travels through the bloodstream to the lungs
Aspiration Pneumonia Food, Saliva or vomit is inhaled into the lungs causing infection
Hyperlipidemia Elevated levels of fat in the blood
Myocardial Infarction Lack of oxygen to part of the heart muscle causes death to the myocardial cells resulting in chest pain aka heart attack
Necrosis Death of body tissue
Pediculosis Head lice
Urticaria Hives
Anaphylaxis A severe, life threatening allergic reaction
Vitiligo A skin disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color
Verruca Wart
Polydipsia Excessive thirst
Orthostatic Hypotension Low blood pressure that occurs when there is a change in body position, such as lying down to standing
Malignant Melanoma A dangerous form of skin cancer caused by an overgrowth of melanin-producing cells
Orthopnea Must sit straight up to breathe
Bronchiectasis A disease in which the large airways in the lungs become permanently wider and is frequently seen in patients with Cystic Fibrosis
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease A combination of chronic bronchitis and emphysema caused by chronic exposure to pollution or smoking
