Adroit Expert or nimble in the use of the hands or body. He was adroit at solving complex puzzles.
Alias A false name used to conceal one's identity; an assumed name. The spy operated under several aliases.
Assume To take for granted without proof; to suppose. She assumed they would arrive on time.
Blatant Brazenly obvious; flagrant. He showed a blatant disregard for the rules.
Bleak Lacking in warmth, life, or kindliness; grim and desolate. The landscape was bleak and barren, with no sign of vegetation.
Cheer To shout encouragement or praise. The crowd cheered loudly when the runner crossed the finish line.
Coddle To treat tenderly; nurse or tend indulgently; pamper. She coddled her younger brother, doing everything for him.
Demean To lower in dignity, honor, or standing; degrade. He demeaned himself by lying to his friends.

Ransack To search thoroughly or vigorously through (a place, receptacle, etc.). The thieves ransacked the house looking for valuables.
Summit The highest point or part; the top. The climbers reached the summit of the mountain after a challenging ascent.
