|---|---|
| Negative Feedback | Oppose or “negate” a change (such as a drop in temperature) by creating a re-sponse (production of heat) that is opposite in direction to the initial disturbance (fall in temperature below a normal set point). |
| Cell Membrane | "The gate kepper of the cell"- what comes in and out, protects intracellular components from external environment |
| Nucleus | "The brain" of the cell- Contains all genetic material/DNA of the cell. |
| Endoplasmic Reticulum | "The network" of the cell- the transport system of the cell, involved in transporting materials throughout the cell. |
| Mitochondria | "The powerhouse" of the cell- major part of cellular respiration-created ATP and engergy source for the cell |
| Lysosomes | “The Recycling center”of the cell- digestive enzymes within the lysosomes aid the breakdown of proteins, polysaccharides, lipids. |
| Golgi Aparatus | "The post office" of the cell- primarily responsible for transporting, modifying, and packaging proteins and lipids to targeted destinations |
| Ribosomes | "The protein factory" of the cell-primary function is protein synthesis in all living cells that ensure the survival of the cell. |
| Peroxisome | "The Janitor" of the cell- oxidative organelles that have enymes to breakdown waste and cellular components. |
| ATP | Adenosine triphosphate- the major energy source of the cell. |
