TermDefinition
Abdominal the part of the body between the thorax (chest) and pelvis, in humans and in other vertebrates.
Antecubital the transitional triangular depression or hollow area located on the anterior side of the elbow, between the forearm and the anatomical arm.
Axillary relating to the armpit.
Brachial relating to the arm or to a structure resembling the arm.
Buccal the buccal region refers to the inner cheek, with the buccal mucosa being the lining of the inside of the cheek.
Calcaneal found at the back of the foot near the ankle, just below the talus, tibia, and fibula bones of the lower leg.
Carpal bones of the wrist that connect the distal aspects of the radial and ulnar bones of the forearm to the bases of the five metacarpal bones of the hand.
Cephalic relating to the head or the head end of the body.
Cervical the neck region of your spinal column or backbone.
Coxal a large, flattened, irregularly shaped bone, constricted in the center and expanded above and below.
Digital of or relating to the fingers or toes.
Femoral your thigh bone.
Gluteal a group of muscles that make up the buttock area
Inguinal of, relating to, or situated in the region of the groin or in either of the lowest lateral regions of the abdomen.
Lumbar the lower back region of your spinal column or backbone.
Nasal Your nose has two nasal cavities, hollow spaces where air flows in and out.
Occipital bone forming the back and back part of the base of the cranium, the part of the skull that encloses the brain.
Olecranal the bony projection of the ulna behind the elbow joint.
Oral parts of the mouth
Orbital bony structures of the skull that house the globe, extraocular muscles, nerves, blood vessels, lacrimal apparatus, and adipose tissue.
Patellar the bone at the front of your knee joint.
Pelvic the middle part of the human body between the lumbar region of the abdomen superiorly and thighs inferiorly.
Popliteal a diamond-shaped space behind the knee joint.
Sacral the sacral vertebrae—also called the sacral spine
Scapular a flat, triangular-shaped bone (colloquially as the "shoulder blade").
Sternal a partially T-shaped vertical bone that forms the anterior portion of the chest wall centrally.
Tarsal any of several short, angular bones that in humans make up the ankle and that—in animals that walk on their toes (e.g., dogs, cats) or on hoofs—are contained in the hock, lifted off the ground.
Thoracic the chest region of the body between the neck and the abdomen, along with its internal organs and other contents.
Umbilical the official anatomical term for your navel or bellybutton.
Vertebral the flexible column extending from neck to tail, made of a series of bones, the vertebrae.
