Homeostasis The mechanisms involved in the maintanace of a stable, internal environment.The body's ability to physiologically regulate its inner environment to ensure stability.
Negative feedback A mechanism of homeostasis that acts in oppositions to the stimulus.
Positive feedback A physiolocal mechanism that acts to enhance the original stimulus.
Layers of the epidermis -stratum basale -stratum spinosum -stratum lucidum -stratum corneum
Functions of the hypodermis(subcutaneous) layer. -insulates -protects -stores energy
Atom The smallest unnit of matter that cannot bebroken down by chemical means(contains a nucleus with protons and neutrons and an electron cloud)
Subatomic particles -protons -neutrons -electrons
Element A pure substance made of only one kind of atom and represented by a symbol.
Compound Substances made up of two or more atoms of different elements.
Chemical bonds Force that joins atoms.
