TermDefinition
AMEND To change by a formal procedure.
CHECKS AND BALANCES A system that prevents any one branch of government from having too much power
COMPROMISE An agreement in which each side gives up something it wants.
CONFEDERATION States that join together for a common purpose.
DELEGATE A person who represents others at a convention or conference.
FEDERAL Relating to the central or national government.
FRAMERS The people who wrote the U.S. Constitution
JUDICIAL REVIEW The process by which the Supreme Court decides if actions of Congress and the president are allowed by the Constitution
JURY n A group of citizens selected to judge a court case.
RATIFY To approve formally.
REPEAL To end a law by formal legislative procedure.
SEGREGATION A system of separating people of different races or ethnic groups.
SUFFRAGE The right to vote.
VETO To stop a law from being put into action.
