Frontal Lobe Largest lobe, Most commonly injured part of the brain, there are 4 parts in the frontal lobe
Frontal Lobe functions Voluntary movement, high level functions, expressive language
Parietal Lobe Major Lobe, upper back area of skull
Parietal Lobe functions sensory info from touch, taste, temperature
Occipital Lobe Back of the head, Damage could cause hallucinations or blindness
Occipital Lobe functions Visual perceptions (color) and forms emotions
Thalamus Paired lode (grey matter) located near the center of the brain stem
Thalamus functions Controls connection between the left and right brain
Cerebellum Portion of the brain between the back of the head and brain stem
cerebellum functions Controls balance for the cerebral cortex
Spinal cord Column of nerve tissue that goes the back of the head and down the center of the back
Spinal cord functions Main function is to send motor commands to the brain
Medulla oblongata connection between the brain stem and the spinal cord,
Medulla oblongata functions helps control vital processes like your heartbeat, breathing and blood pressure.
Pons The part of the brainstem that links the medulla oblongata and the thalamus
Pons function handles unconscious processes like sleep cycles, Breathing, etc.
Pituitary Gland Master gland, affects the kidneys, uterus, and breast. Affects the thyroid, adrenal galnds, and gonads
Pituitary Gland functions Growth, sexual reproduction, development and functions
Hypothalamus directly effects the autonomic system and manages hormones
Hypothalamus functions Keeps the body in a state of homeostasis
Corpus Callosum ensures that both sides of your brain can communicate
bonus: Extrinsic learner Learn for benefit or reward
bonus: intrinsic learner Learns because they love learning
