| Mega city | A city with a population of over 10 million people |
| Meta city | A city with a population of over 20 million people |
| Edge Cities | A relatively large urban area situated on the outskirts of a city |
| Exurbs | Residential communities that extend past suburbs |
| Filtering (Urban development) | Process of subdivision of houses and occupany by successive waves of lower income |
