What occurred because the nobility and families of wealthy merchants wanted expensive clothes, weaponry and jewelry? The market for these goods encouraged specelationa dn long distance trade
What problem of buying and selling did the development of banking solve? Bills of exchange eliminated the Danger of carrying coins on trade journeys.
Why do you think many of the trade routes made use of waterways? It was easier to move goods on water than on land, where roads were poor or missing and mountains made travel difficult.
Why would being able to plow heavier soils be a benefit to farmers and others? Plowing heavier, more dense soils allowed more land to be plowed which benefited the total crop production, so could feed a growing population.
As trade revived, what began to grow and be built? Towns
What happened to the forests because of the need for wood for heating and cooking, and the need for land for farming? Loss of a natural resource
Who began to set up shops in the towns? Merchants and crafts workers
