How do you evaluate the P wave? make sure they are all the same size
How do you evaluate the P to P interval? make sure they’re all the same distance apart
How do you determine the atrial rate on an EKG? by counting the number of P waves then multiplying that by 10
How do you fine the PR interval? count the number of boxes between P and Q and multiply by 0.04
How do you evaluate the R to R interval? Make sure they’re all the same length apart
How do you determine the ventricular rate from an EKG? by counting the number of QRS complexes and multiplying it by 10
How do you find the QRS interval? count the number of boxes between Q and S then multiply it by 0.04
How do you find the QT interval? count the number of boxes between Q and T multiplied by 0.04
How many small boxes equal one big box? 5
How many big boxes equal 3 seconds? 15
How long does an EKG have to be to be properly evaluated? 6 seconds
How many boxes are in 6 seconds? 30
How many seconds is one little box? 0.04 seconds
What is the normal heart rate? 60-100 bpm
What is it when your heart rate is less than 60 bpm? bradycardia
What is it when your heart rate is more than 100 bpm? Tachycardia
What is the average duration of a PR interval? 0.12-0.20 seconds
How long is a PR segment? 100ms
What is the purpose of a PR segment? to give the atria time to contract before the ventricles contract
What is the average duration of the QRS complex? less than or equal to 0.12 seconds
What is the QRS complex? Ventricular depolarization
What is the average duration of the QT interval? 0.31-0.44 seconds
What does it mean when the ST segment is elevated? May indicate a STEMI (Heart attack)
What does it mean when the ST segment is depressed? May indicate Ischemia (pulmonary embolism)
