| Melanin | Dark pigment usually found in skin and hair. |
| Epidermis | Outer epithelial layer of the skin. |
| Dermis | The thick layer of skin beneath the epidermis. |
| Sweat Gland | Exocrine gland in he skin that secretes a mixture of water, salt, urea, and other bodily fluids. |
| Merocrine Sweat Glands | A structure whose cells remain intact while secreting. |
| Hair Follicle | Tubelike depression in the epidermis in which hair develops. |
| Apocrine Sweat Glands | Type of gland whose secretions have parts of secretory cells |
| Keratinization | Process by which cells form fibrils of keratin and harden. |
| Eumelanin | Brownish-black pigment. |
| Arrector Pili Muscle | An involuntary muscle fiber attached to the underside and base of the hair follicle. Cause goosebumps. |
| Dermal Papillia | Small, nipple-like extensions of the dermis into the epidermis. Form ridges that create finger prints. |
| Subcutaneous Layer | Loose connective tissue layer that is mostly fat and beneath the skin. |
| Pheomelanin | A reddish-yellow pigment. |
| Sebaceous Gland | Skin gland that secretes sebum. |
