Chapter 9: Muscle Histology

TermDefinition
Signs of skeletal muscle Longitudinal sections, striations, sarcomere, and nuclei (elongate and numerous)
Signs of cardiac muscle Nuclei (elongate and deep within the cell), intercalated disks (cell membrane between muscle cells), bifurcations, and striations
Signs of smooth muscle Spindle-shaped (narrow at the edges, wilder at the ends), nuclei (elongate), closely packed fibers, and no striations or bifurcations or intercalated disks
