| Tibialis Anterior | Dorsiflex the ankle, inverts the ankle |
| Extensor Hallucis Longus | Extends the big toe and dorsiflexes the foot |
| Extensor Digitorum Longus | Muscle that originates from the tibia and runs down the fibula; extends the toes |
| Fibularis Longus | Superficial muscle in the lateral leg that extends the foot downward away from the body at the ankle |
| Gastrocnemius | Superficial two-headed muscle of the lower leg, literally "belly of the leg"; plantar flexes ankle and has a medial and lateral head |
| Soleus | Muscle in the calf that plays a crucial role in walking, running, and keeping balance |
| Flexor Digitorum Longus | Flexes the digits |
| Tibialis Posterior | Most central of the leg muscles that stabilizes the lower leg |
| Flexor Hallucis Longus | Flexes the big toe |
| Popliteus | Muscle near the kneecap that unlocks the knees when walking |
