PrefixMeaning
mono- one Ex: monocular = relating to one eye
uni- one Ex: unimolecular = denoting a single molecule
bi- two Ex: biosocial = interplay between biologic and social influences
di- two Ex: diglossia = condition that results in the tongue splitting in two
tri- three Ex: trichromat = person who sees three primary colors
quadri- four Ex: quadriplegia = paralysis of all four limbs
hemi- half Ex; hemifacial = pertaining to one side of the face
semi- half Ex: semispinal = muscles attached in part (half) to the spinal vertebrae
multi- many Ex: multifid = divided into many segments
