| chondromalacia | abnormal softening of cartilage |
| comminuted | fracture in which bone is splintered or crushed |
| crepitation | grating sound when ends of broken bone move together |
| dyskinesia | distortion or impairment of voluntary movement resulting in fragmented or jerky movements |
| hemiplegia | slight paralysis or weakness affecting one side of the body |
| hyperkinesia | abnormally increased motor function or activity; also known as hyperactivity |
| laminectomy | surgical removal of a lamina from a vertebra |
| metacarpals | five bones that form the palms of the hand |
| metatarsals | five bones that form the foot where the toes are attached |
| Myasthenia Gravis | chronic autoimmune disease that affects the neuromuscular junction and produces serious weakness of voluntary muscles |
| myolysis | degeneration of muscle tissue |
| paralysis | loss of sensation and voluntary muscle movements in a muscle through disease or injury to its nerve supply |
| paraplegia | paralysis of both legs and lower part of the body |
| plantar fasciitis | inflammation of the plantar fascia on the sole of the foot, causing foot or heel pain when walking or running |
| spondylolisthesis | the forward slipping movement of the the body of one of the lower lumbar vertebrae on the vertebra or sacrum below it |
| spondylosis | degenerative disorder that can cause the loss of normal spinal structure and function; also known as spinal osteoarthritis |
| subluxation | partial displacement of a bone from its joint |
| synovectomy | surgical removal of a synovial membrane from a joint |
